JC win first game of new Manning Cup season

Defending manning cup champions Jamaica College bagged their first win of the ISSA Digicel Manning Cup Competition after blanking host Vauxhall 3-0 on Saturday. Richard Thompson sent the old hope road team ahead on the half hour mark after tapping into an empty net. Shaniel Thomas extended the advantage in the 54th minute to make it 2-0 and Rajaye Lawrence capped off the convincing display in added time for the Andrew Peart coached team as they moved to four points from two games.

Former champions St George's College crushed Cumberland 6-1, while Kingston College thrashed Clan Carthy 5-0.

The biggest winner on the day was St Catherine High who hammered Oberlin 12-0. Elsewhere, 2017 beaten finalist St Andrew Technical eased past Tarrant 3-0 and Mona clipped Ardenne 2-1.

Meanwhile, 2017 champions Rusea's clipped Hopewell 2-1 in the ISSA/Wata DaCosta Cup. Elsewhere, former champions Cornwall College blanked Anchovy 4-0, last season's semi-finalist Dinthill Technical clipped Charlemont 2-1, Tacky blanked St Mary High 3-0, Annotto Bay and Horace Clarke battled to a 1-1 draw, so too did Port Antonio and Titchfield while Happy Grove clipped Fair Prospect 2-1. 

 
In Zone O Paul Bogle tagged St Thomas Technical 2-0. In Zone E Munro were held to a 1-1 draw by Sydney Pagon, while Clarendon College hammered Kellits High 4-0. A double strike from Kyle Marshall lifted Cedric Titus to a 2-0 win over Spot Valley High.

Marshall opened the scoring in the 34th minute and then finished off the game as a contest six minutes later, converting from the penalty spot. Meanwhile, Tajay Green scored the all-important goal for 2016 champions STETHS in their 1-0 win over Maggotty at the Appleton Estate Field to make it three wins from as many games.

Manchester High and Mile Gully ended 1-1 in a dramatic Zone F contest. Javel Coley broke the deadlock in time added for what seemed a certain win but Manchester through Jonoi Simpson, eked out a share of the points.
