Kaliese Spencer, 2014 Commonwealth Games 400m hurdles champion, says that elusive World Championship medal could come in 2015.
Spencer captured her first major individual senior title when she copped gold at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year in Glasgow, Scotland.
But the 27 year old Spencer has finished fourth at three global championships in recent years after making the finals at the 2009 Berlin World Championship, the 2011 Daegu World Championship and the 2012 London Olympics.
“Most definitely that is one of my goals, to get a medal. I have never gotten an Olympic or a World Championship medal and I am just going out there this season just to train hard, and I know, with God by my side, and with great coaching and an injury free season... I will be having a great, great year,” Spencer told RJR Sports.
Spencer, who missed out on the IAAF short list for Female Athlete of the Year, despite a dominant season, returned to training on Monday.
“This year was a great season. I must say I didn’t get a personal best but it was a great season, I was dominant on the track and I am just going back in training and hopefully next season will be as good as this one. So I am just pleased with myself and I am just happy it was a great season,” she concluded.
