KC beat STGC to break Manning Cup title drought

Kingston College are the champions of the ISSA Digicel Manning Cup after a 3-2 win over North Street rivals St George’s College in the final at the National Stadium on Friday night. Damani Harris put the ‘Light Blues’ ahead in the 36th minute to end the half 1-0 up. But substitute Trayvon Reid pulled the ‘Purples’ level in the 50th minute.

Substitute Chantamoi Taylor then put St George’s College closer to the title in the 72nd minute, but with time draining KC pulled level through Micheal Allen in the 87th and captain Nathan Thomas got the winner to ensure KC lifted their first Manning Cup crown title in 32 years.

Meanwhile, it's a clash of the CC’s on Saturday when 12-time champions Cornwall College and 7-time winners Clarendon College meet in the ISSA Wata DaCosta Cup final at the Montego Bay Sports Complex starting at 6:00 pm. Last season's beaten finalist Clarendon College will look to lift the trophy this time around after getting to the final unbeaten for the entire campaign. Clarendon suffered their lone defeat for the season going down early in the Champions Cup knockout. 2016 champions Cornwall College are oozing confidence following their 1-0 win over JC in the Champions Cup final.
