KC upsets Calabar to win COA boys 4x100 at Penns

Kingston College became the joint leading Jamaican high school sprint relay team while Jamaica College created a massive upset in the mile relay final as the 122nd Penn Relays came to an end on Saturday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

KC returned 39.63 seconds to win the 4x100m Championship of America final for high school boys over Calabar who did 39.89 seconds.

JC posted 3:12.34 to land the 4x400m over Calabar in 3:13.09 while St Jago captured the 4x800m in 7:33.7. 

Meanwhile, Jamaica secured only one victory in the exciting USA versus the World relay events at the Penn Relay carnival in Philadelphia.

The team of Jermaine Hamilton, Julian Forte, Rasheed Dwyer and Oshane Bailey clocked 38.70 seconds to win the men's 4x100m relay ahead of USA Blue in 39.02.

The women's sprint relay team with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce on anchor, had to settle for second, clocking 42.90 seconds behind USA Red who were anchored by Carmelita Jeter in a winning time of 42.61 seconds.

Jamaica's women also ended second in the 4x400m relay, clocking 3:29:00 behind the USA  3:26.83. The men's team ended sixth in 3:08.06 seconds in their event won by USA Blue in 3:02.32.

In the 4x200m relays, Jamaica's women ended second in 1:31.34 seconds behind the USA 1:31.17 seconds.

The men's team failed to finish their event after opening leg runner Jason Livermore suffered an injury and fell agonizingly to the track.
