Langer set to be appointed Australia's new cricket coach

Former opening batsman Justin Langer is set to be appointed Australia’s new head coach. Langer would replace Darren Lehmann, who stepped down as head coach of the test team in March following the Australian ball-tampering scandal. Cricket Australia’s board will ratify Langer's appointment on Friday.

However, Cricket Australia says no appointment has been made and that no candidate will be put to the board when it next meets. Most recently, Langer has been coaching Western Australia and Perth Scorchers. Langer also took charge of the Australian team on an interim basis while former coach Lehmann was away in 2016.
