FIFA Assistant Referees Princess Brown-Muir and Stephanie Dale Yeesing returned to the island on Monday night following their stint officiating at the FIFA Women's World Cup in France. Last Wednesday Princess Brown-Muir and Stephanie Dale Yeesing created history when they became the first Caribbean referees, male or female, to officiate at the semi-final stage of a senior World Cup.
On Monday, understandably fatigued from a hectic schedule and over 20 hours of travelling, they were beaming as they soaked up accolades from executive members of the Jamaica Football Federation and the Jamaica Referees Commission who met them on arrival. Brown-Muir has been to a world tournament before while it was Yeesing's first experience of the global stage.
Head of the Referees Commission Victor Stewart and FIFA Referees Instructor Peter Prendergast were not too surprised by how well they did. The CONCACAF team with the two Jamaicans was completed by FIFA referee Marie-Soleil Beaudoin of Canada.
