Manchester City punishes LIverpool

Title holders Manchester City maintained their 100 percent start to the new English Premiership season with a comfortable 3 - 1 victory over Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Monday.

Stevan Jovetic scored in each half of Monday's match in setting up the win for the defending champions.

Sergio Aguerro scored within 5 seconds of coming off the bench for Manchester City to give them their third goal.  Manchester City gifted Liverpool a goal with Pablo Zabaletta conceding an own goal.

Meanwhile,  a year and a half after ending his spell with Manchester City to play for AC Milan, Mario Balotelli is now back in the English Premier League.

The 24 year old on Monday signed a long-term contract and had a special training session though he did not play in today's match against his former club.

Balotelli's fiery temperament has onlookers concerned, but Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers thinks he is a changed player.

“He is at a stage in his career where this might be his last chance at a big club, so he needs to settle down and show maturity," Rodgers said.

“I have worked with those types of players all my life and from when I walked in here as coach, I have never ever had the finished article and that is how at times I like it. He has huge potential, he just needs to come to Liverpool and be consistent and if he can do that, then we have got one hell of a player”, Rodgers said.
