Mattocks joins new MLS franchise for 2019 season

28 year old Jamaican international Darren Mattocks has penned a one year deal with newly expanded Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati for the 2019 season. Mattocks was not retained by DC United where he scored 10 goals in 25 games in 2018. The former University of Akron player will now be playing in the state where he started his college career.

This is the fourth MLS team that Mattocks will be playing for after previously representing the Vancouver Whitecaps, the Portland Timbers and DC United. Mattocks will now join former Arsenal defender Justin Hoyte at the club and he will be working with former Jamaican international Omar Cummings who is the striker coach. 

Since starting his professional career, Mattock has 34 goals in 161 games. Mattocks has 17 goals in 43 games for the Reggae Boyz.
