McLeod continues brilliant Diamond League form

Inform sprint hurdler Omar McLeod shun brightly once again as he provide the sole Jamaican victory at the Prefontaine Eugene Diamond League meet in Oregon, USA on Saturday.

McLeod sped to another impressive victory clocking 13.06 seconds to win the men's 110 metres hurdles. Fellow Jamaican and 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Hansle Parchment was a disappointing 8th in a 13.58 seconds.

Former world record holder Asafa Powell was the next best placed Jamaican, clocking a wind- aided 9.94 for second in the men's 100 metres behind American winner Justin Gatlin who posted 9.88.

The women's 200 metres had promised to be one of the most exciting races of the meet and did not disappoint with Jamaica's World Championship silver medallist Elaine Thomspon finishing third in a season's best 22.16 seconds.

American Torie Bowie won the event in a world-leading 21.99 seconds ahead of World Championship gold medallist Daphne Schippers 22.11.

Reigning Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished down the track in the women's 100 metres, clocking 11.18 seconds for eighth.

Another Jamaican Simone Facey was fourth in 11.09 behind American winner English Gardener 10.81.

World Championship bronze medallist Shericka Jackson continued her search for form ending fifth in the women's 400 metres while compatriot Stephanie-Ann McPherson was fourth in 51.07. The event was won by Bahamian Shaunae Miller in 50.15.

Rusheen McDonald continued his mixed season ending eighth in the men's equivalent in 46.82. Grenada's Olympic champion Kirani James took the event in 44.22 seconds ahead of American arch rival Lashawn Merritt 44.39.
