Melbourne and JDF got outright wins in the opening round of the JCA 2-day Senior Cup cricket competition on Sunday. Defending champions Melbourne secured a 6 wicket win over Kingston and St Andrew Cricket Association.
Having been set 66 for victory, Melbourne got to their target for the loss of 4 wickets with Javelle Glenn making 22 against 2-18 from Sadiki Greenland. Earlier, KSACA were dismissed for 122 with Jevaun McFarlane making 35, but Christopher Lamont was the star of the show taking 5-56 for match figures of 11-112.
Elsewhere, the JDF who resumed on 231-7, were dismissed for 253 as Leighton Lelie took his overnight 69 to 85 against 4-24 from Andel Gordon and 3-57 from Sheldon Pryce.
Batting a second time, St Mary were bowled out for 203 as Andre Creary made a top score of 75 and Murray Harrow 42 against 5-41 from national player Dennis Bulli and 3-32 from Gordon Bryan. JDF then got to their target of 59 with the loss of just one wicket. Davoy Spence made an unbeaten 43.
