Melbourne in driver's seat in Senior Cup final

Many time champions Melbourne are in strong position in the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Senior Cup final, needing just 12 more runs to gain first innings points over the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) at Sabina Park. The 2017 champions JDF batsmen had no answers against the Melbourne bowlers as they struggled to produce any good partnerships and were 69-5 at lunch, with their main run-getter throughout the tournament, Jeremaine Harrison failing with the bat, as he went for just 16 runs.

Only Kevin Daley put up any real resistance, making a top-score of 30 as the army men were dismissed for 113.
The spin twins of Christoper Lamont and Yannick Elliott bagged 3-24 and 3-32 respectively, while there were two wickets each for Shalholm Parnell and Tarique White.

In their reply, despite losing the wicket of opener Abjijai Mansingh for 5 with the score on 15, a second wicket stand of 87 between White who is unbeaten on 51 and skipper Javelle Glen who made 24 helped steady the ship.

White and Aldane Thomas who is on 13 not out, will seek to build on the good start on Sunday's final day of the two day final where they will resume batting on 102-2 when play gets underway at 9:00 am.
