Melbourne inch closer to Senior Cup final

Last season's beaten finalist Melbourne CC have virtually secured a spot in the final of the JCA two day Senior Cup competition after securing first innings points over St Catherine Cricket Club at Chedwin Park on Saturday. After being sent in to bat, St Catherine CC folded for a mere 146. St Catherine were well placed at 86-0 with Kennar Lewis 58 and Horaine Williams 23.

But Jamaica Scorpions and West Indies a player Damion Jacobs grabbed 6-25 and Yannick Elliot 2-8, triggered a collapse for the former champions. Gavin Wallace also contributed 29. Melbourne in response closed on 252-3.

Guyanese-born and Jamaica Scorpions batsman Assad Fuddadin closed on 97 not out and former youth player javelle glenn 86. Over at Manchester in the clash between the home team and UWI, it was a rain-shortened day with UWI getting to 120-0  hout loss when the showers forced the players off the field. West Indies player Chadwick Walton 61 and Leonardo Friginette 50, are set to resume when play restarts on Sunday.
