Miller-Uibo shortlisted for IAAF Athlete of the Year accolcade

Caribbean athlete, the Bahamian star Shaunae Miller-Uibo is among the five finalists shortlisted for the 2018 IAAF Female Athlete of the Year award. Miller was unbeaten across five events in 15 races including a 200m/4x100m double at the IAAF Continental Cup in 2018 and also had the world lead and three wins at 400m with the world's fastest time since 2009. 

She was also the Commonwealth Games and IAAF Diamond League champion over 200 meters. British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, the European champion and world leader at 100m, 200m and 4x100m, Kenya's Beatrice Chepkoech, the 300 meter steeplechase world record holder,

Colombia's Caterine Ibarguen the IAAF Continental Cup, Diamond League champion and CAC  champion at both long jump and triple jump and Belgium's Nafissatou Thiam, the European heptathlon champion and world leader are the other female finalists short-listed. There is no place for South African Caster Semenya, the Commonwealth Games champion at 800 and 1500 meters as well as being the IAAF Diamond League 800 meter champion. Semenya was also unbeaten in 2018  

The male finalists will be announced on Wednesday. The male and female world Athletes of the Year will be announced live on stage at the IAAF Athletics Awards 2018 on December 4 in Monaco.
