National table tennis coach plans to spread sport islandwide

With his duties officially having started on Monday, newly- appointed national men's table tennis head coach Dale Parham says his main goal will be to improve table tennis right across the island rather than focusing solely on the Corporate Area. Parham and Sandra Reittie were appointed coaches almost two months after the departure of Japanese Satoshi Takashima.

The association was left without a coach after they relieved Stephen Grant of his post last year, months before Takashima's contract with Table Tennis Jamaica (TTJ) had expired. Parham says he and women's coach Reittie will have to figure out the best way of working together. The Jamaica Olympic Association has also put forward $1.7 million for the course of the contracts for both Parham and Reittie. Both Parham and Reittie have been given contracts, subject to renewal after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
