Communications Director for Netball Jamaica Wayne Lewis says the resignation of former co-coach of the Sunshine Girls team Sasher Gaye-Henry came as a major shock to the local governing body. Henry who oversaw a bronze medal finish by the Sunshine Girls at the recent Commonwealth Games in Australia, sent in her letter of resignation earlier this week.
“Netball Jamaica has been shocked by this. We didn’t see this coming because there are no issues as far as we are concerned,” he said. Lewis says the association has no other option but to accept the resignation of the former player if there is no reconsideration.
“She spoke about personal issues and the job being a strain on her. There are no outstanding issues; it’s not like we are in an acrimonious relationship. I think it’s an opportunity for someone-else to step forward. I’m not sure Netball Jamaica should try and get her to change her mind,” added Lewis. Lewis was speaking on Hitz 92 FM’s Sports Machine on Saturday afternoon.
