New Manning Cup champion to be crowned

A new champion will be crowned in this year’s ISSA Manning Cup Competition. St Andrew Technical (STATHS) and Jamaica College advanced to the November 29 grand finale as both advanced via penalty shootouts from Wednesday’s semi-finals at the National Stadium.

STATHS progressed to their second Manning Cup final in 3 years after a 4-2 penalty shootout win over Wolmer's Boys. Steven McQueen sent STATHS ahead in the 9th minute after heading home powerfully from close range. However, Orlando Russell pulled the Wolmerians level in minute 15 after slotting home on the break.

The game which went straight to penalties after 90 minutes, saw Tyrese Smith scoring the winning penalty. St Andrew Technical's opponents in the November 29 final will be Jamaica College as the Old Hope Road-based school knocked out defending champions Kingston College after a 5-4 win on penalties. The game was sent to penalties after a 0-0 score in 90 minutes.
