New Zealanders gearing up for spin and more spin

New Zealand's cricketers say they are preparing to face a lot of spin on their tour of the West Indies.

The Blackcaps had their second training session on Tuesday at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium in Falmouth, Trelawny, where they'll take on a Jamaican select team in a two day game starting on Thursday.

Former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond who is now coach of the team, says while they are expecting to be on the receiving end, they'll also be looking to throw up some turn and bounce.

“We are lucky we have got a pre-season squad...with another bowler, a spinner, Mark Craig," Bond said. "He is an off-spinner on his first tour, so it will be a great tour for him and a learning curve.."

Bond continued: “The inexperience lies in our spin bowling department, but we probably expect the conditions to favour spin so it is going to be a challenge for those guys, but exciting at the same time," Bond commented.

New Zealand will play two warm up matches against Jamaica select teams in Trelawny before heading to Kingston for the first of three tests against the West Indies starting Sunday June 8 at Sabina Park.
