New Zealand's Brendan McCullum for the history books

Captain Brendan McCullum scored the first triple century in 84 years of New Zealand's participation in test cricket, to help his side fight back from a perilous position to draw the second and final test against india in Wellington, and win the series 1-nil.

Facing defeat with New Zealand ahead by 6 runs with five second innings wickets in hand after three days, McCullum crafted the historic knock of 302 to help his side recover to declare on 680-8 and set India 435 runs to win. B.J. Watling hit 124 to help the cause, while Jimmy Neesham became the 7th man to score a century on debut batting at No.8, he struck 137 not out.

The previous highest individual score by a New Zealand batsman in tests was 299 by Martin Crowe.

India closed on 166-3 as Virat Kohli hit 105 not out.

Final scores: New Zealand 192 and 680-8 dec, India 438 and 166-3.

New Zealand wins the 2-test series 1-nil.
