Oberlin and Decarteret College win all-island badminton titles

The 2019 staging of the Under-19 Schools Badminton Championship was hailed as a success following the finals held recently where Oberlin and Decarteret College walked away with the respective boys and girls title. Decarteret College easily took the all-island girls' title with an easy 3-0 win over Immaculate Conception High.

After taking the first two singles games at 21-7, 22-20 and 21-12, 21-8. The pair of Karie Dawson and captain Talia Richardson ensured a clean sweep, taking the doubles match 21-12, 21-18 over Aaliyah Walker and Breana Bisnott.

On the boys' side the Oberlin pair of Tevin Ennis and Chevaughn Schleifer recorded a 21-15, 21-15 win over Calabar's Tousaint Robinson and Odray Sealy to win the tie 3-2 after the first four matches ended two apiece. The teams now turn their attention to the knock-out competition.
