Playoff and relegation battles take spotlight in RSPL

The million dollar prize in the Red Stripe Premier League, along with the playoffs and relegation battle could be decided on Thursday following the 31st round of matches. Should Portmore United, Harbour View, Dunbeholden, Humble Lion, Mount Pleasant and UWI  win on Thursday, it means the next two rounds of the regular season will be to decide the second semi-finalist and also whether Arnett Gardens or UWI will finish fifth or sixth.

With a four point advantage, Portmore United could open up a seven point advantage and pocket the bonus prize of $1 million for topping the regular season table should they beat second placed Waterhouse. The two will meet at the Prison Oval. Reno could bid goodbye to the league once they fail to get the better of Mount Pleasant at Frome.

Reno are currently 8 points off safety and anything but a win could send them to the famous drawing board to draft up a plan for life in the lower league. Montego Bay United aren't resting easy either as they could make their exit with defeat against UWI at the Mona Bowl. However, they will be hoping that neither Harbour View nor Humble Lion manage a win.

Humble Lion will be at home to Tivoli Gardens, fully aware of the permutations as they have been dragged into the relegation battle. It's a similar story for Harbour View who must follow up Sunday's win with another when they play away to Cavalier who return to the Stadium East Field.
