Portmore and Waterhouse take advantage after first leg RSPL semis

Defending champions Portmore United and Waterhouse have taken the early advantage after the opening legs of the Red Stripe Premier League semi-finals on Monday night. Two time champions Waterhouse put one foot into the final after blanking Cavalier 2-0. In what was the second match of the double header, captain Kiethy Simpson put Waterhouse ahead in the 34th minute before Tremaine Stewart made it 2-0 in the 40th minute.

Meanwhile, defending champions Portmore United snatched a late win over Mount Pleasant Football Academy as they beat the St Ann-based team 2-1 in their first leg semi-final encounter also at the National Stadium. It was Javon East who gave Portmore United the lead in the 43rd minute to send them into the halftime break 1-0 up. Jourdaine Fletcher then pulled Mount Pleasant level just two minutes after the resumption with a brilliant 47th minute strike. The return legs will be played next Monday.
