Portmore United relinquished a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Atlantico of the Dominican Republic in their second group match of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship on Friday evening. Portmore took the lead in the 43rd minute through Javon East.
The 64th minute sending off of Ricardo Morris didn't seem to affect Portmore initially as they doubled their advantage from the penalty spot through captain Ewan Grandison in the 72nd minute after East was taken down in the box by goalkeeper Blanco.
But the man disadvantage finally caught up with the Red Stripe Premier League leaders in minute 77 when Atlantico reduced the deficit to 2-1. The Dominican side then drew level in the 87th minute, meaning Portmore United had to settle for a share of the points. Despite the result, Portmore remain top of the group on goal difference. Portmore now need a draw from their final match against Racing on Sunday to secure progress to the next round.
