Portmore United advance, Arnett exit CONCACAF League

Defending Red Stripe Premier League champions Portmore United will face Honduran club Motagua in the quarter-finals of the 2018 CONCACAF League later this month. The first leg will be played on August 23 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras while the home leg for Portmore United will be on August 30 at the National Stadium.

Portmore United advanced to the last eight after edging by Costa Rican club Santos de Guapiles 7-6 on penalties after the game was locked at 3-3 on aggregate from the two legs. They will be the only Jamaican club left in the competition as Arnett Gardens have been eliminated despite their 2-1 victory over Panamanian club Arabe Unido.

The ‘Junglists’ lost 3-0 in Panama last week but their 2-1 victory meant they lost 4-2 on aggregate. The winner of the 2018 CONCACAF League will advance to the 2019 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League.
