Portmore United midfielder Stephen Williams was arrested in Miami during the team's trip to the final round of the CFU Club Championship in Trinidad.
According to the Miami Dade County jail website, the 26 year old was arrested at a local mall and was charged with petty theft.
Williams who has made 18 league appearances for Portmore United this season, did not play in the club's 1-0 win over Haiti's Racing De Gonaives on Tuesday. It is unclear whether he will take part in rest of the CFU campaign.
When initially contacted about the incident, Portmore United’s manager Clive Marshall asked that he be contacted an hour later. However, he did not respond to subsequent calls.
