Portmore United move up to third on RSPL table

Title holders Portmore United have jumped to third in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) standings following their 5-0  whipping of relegation-threatened Vere United at the Prison Oval on Sunday. Shande James notched a double for Portmore United as they moved to 39 points, seven behind leaders Waterhouse.

Arnett Gardens led for 86 minutes before squandering their lead to be held 1-1 by arch rivals Tivoli Gardens. The consistent Kemal Malcolm broke the deadlock after half an hour as Arnett went in front. But with four minutes to go in the match, Tivoli hit back when former Arnett Gardens player Ranike Anderson grabbed the equaliser.

It was a similar result between Cavalier and Harbour View at the Stadium East. Chevone Marsh sent Cavalier ahead in the 21st minute, but it took 14 minutes for the “Stars of the East” to hit back, Norman Campbell finding the target.

Elsewhere on Sunday, UWI FC and Molynes United ended 1-1, while Humble Lion clipped Mount Pleasant Academy 1-0 in the Monday night fixture.
