Jamaica's team to this weekend's third staging of the IAAF World Relay in the Bahamas has been dealt a setback with a few withdrawals.
Technical Leader of Jamaica’s team Maurice Wilson confirmed with RJR Sports that two-time world 100m bronze medallist Asafa Powell is among three athletes to pull out of the team.
“I’ve been informed that Asafa Powell is not available; Julian Forte is also not available; Rusheen McDonald is also out; those are experienced athletes that would make a big difference to the composition of the team. I was also advised that Elaine Thompson and Shericka Jackson would only be available for the 4x200m relay,” said Wilson.
Despite the withdrawals, Wilson is backing the Jamaica team to do well in the Bahamas.
