Powell to play key role in World Cup qualifier

Winfried Schaefer, Reggae Boyz head coach

Reggae Boyz head coach Winfried Schaefer says right full back Alvas Powell will play a key role in Friday night's first leg World Cup qualifier against Nicaragua at the National Stadium.

The 21 year old Powell has made a quick return to the Reggae Boyz squad following his walkout at the recent Concacaf Gold Cup tournament.

Schaefer told RJR sports, “we have problems in defence as Wes Morgan is not here; Jermaine Taylor and Daniel Gordon are also injured. I am giving this boy a second chance because he loves Jamaica.”

Powell is part of the twenty seven man squad which will be cut to twenty three for Friday’s game.
