Pride, Red Force in the ascendency in WICB PCL

Barbados Pride are on the verge of taking a strong first innings lead over host country Jamaica Franchise at stumps on day-2 of their 10th round WICB PCL match at Sabina Park.

Resuming on 286-8, The Pride were dismissed for 310, as Marquino Mindley finished with 3-47, Jason Dawes 4-57 and leg spinner Damion Jacobs 2-89.

Jamaica Franchise then continued their poor showing with the bat, closing on 222-9, trailing by 88 runs.

Jon-Ross Campbell made 36, John Campbell 35 and Jermain Blackwood 33 against Jomel Warrican 7-68 and Ashley Nurse 2-96.

Barbados' Warrican has now established a new Barbados record for a season, breaking the 47 wickets taken by Winston Reid in 1999 .

The Pride has now earned 6 bonus points, 3 bowling and 3 batting. Jamaica has pocketed 4 bonus points, 3 bowling and 1 batting.

Scores: Barbados Pride 310; Jamaica Franchise 222-9.

At the National Cricket Centre at Couva in Trinidad, the Leewards Hurricanes reached 245-9 replying to Trinidad & Tobago Red Force's 291 all out.

The Hurricanes resumed on 12-0 on Saturday's second day, but could not cope with Marlon Richards 3-34 and leg spinner Imran Khan 3-67, as Montcin Hodge 38, Devom Thomas 29 and Steve Liburd 93 led the charge for the Hurricanes who trail the Red Force by 46 runs on first innings.

The Red Force have 5 bonus points, 2 batting and 3 bowling; while the Hurricanes have 4 points, 3 bowling and 1 batting.

Scores: Red Force 291 all out; Hurricanes 245-9.

At Windsor Park in Dominica, tournament leaders Guyana Jaguars will take a 6 run lead with 5 first innings wickets in hand entering Sunday's 3rd day against Windwards Volcanoes.

Resuming day-2 on 2-0, the Jaguars were soon in trouble at 5-111, but an unbroken 6th wicket partnership between Christopher Barnwell 104 not out (11x4s and 3x6s) and veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul 83 not out (8x4s) coaxed the Jaguars into the lead at 5-289 by stumps.

Delorn Johnson, 2-62, and Shane Shillingford 2-64 the leading wicket takers so far.

The Jaguars have so far earned 5 bonus points ( 3 bowling and 2 batting), while the Volcanoes have 3 bonus points (2 batting and 1 bowling).

Scores: Volcanoes 283 all out; Jaguars 5-289.
