Rain hampers JCA Super League

On a day when only 40 overs were possible due to rain, leaders of the JCA Super League Combined Universities and Colleges closed day one on 186-2 against the Eastern Tigers at Melbourne Oval. In time possible, national player John Ross Campbell stroked 101 with nine fours and six sixes.

Campbell has so far added an unbroken 148 run third wicket stand with Cassius Burton who is 55, laced with four sixes. Over at Kaiser Sports Club, Central Titans wrestled first innings points from Northern Panthers. The Titans were first dismissed for 168 with Jamaica Scorpions player Steven Taylor getting 75.

There were four wicket hauls for Christopher Lamont and Damani Sewell. However, in reply, the Panthers were unable to cope with Pete Salmon who bagged 5-28 as they were skittled out for 120 at stumps. Javoy Glenn made 49. There was no play possible at Treasure Beach in the day's other game which features the Western Warriors and Southern Seals. Play resumes on Sunday for the second day for all three games.
