Boys’ Town's push for Premier League survival took a positive turn on Sunday after they squeezed out a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Maverley Hughenden at the Barbican Complex. National striker Shamar Nicholson got the all-important goal in injury time.
The win lifted the ‘Red Brigade’ to 26 points, the same as 11th placed Jamalco, and two points behind Maverley Hughenden who sit in tenth spot. Jamalco's quest for survival took another blow as they were clipped 1-0 by FC Reno at Saint Elizabeth Technical.
Rondell Morris got the lone goal for Reno who ended with ten players as Omar Johnson was sent off in the 90th minute. The win pushed FC Reno to 35 points and consolidated their seventh place spot on the table.
In the late kick off, eighth placed Harbour View beat third placed and defending champions Montego Bay United 1-0 at Compound courtesy of a 49th minute strike by McKauly Tulloch.
The League continues on Monday with a double header at the National Stadium. In the opener at 5:30 pm, relegation-threatened Waterhouse will go up against Tivoli Gardens.
The two are not having the best of form with Tivoli boasting two wins from their last five matches while Waterhouse have just one win. Both teams are also coming off mid-week losses.
