Reggae Boyz lose to Ecuador in friendly encounter

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz stumbled a 2-0 loss to South American side Ecuador in a practice match at the New York Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Friday night. Enner Valencia with the 17th minute penalty and Renato Ibarra with a 49th minute strike got the goals for Ecuador. The Reggae Boyz were suffering their third defeat in four head to head matches against Ecuador.

The Reggae Boyz will next be in action on Sunday at the National Stadium when they face the Cayman Islands in their opening match of the inaugural CONCACAF Nations League. Jamaica, the Caribbean number one team on the new CONCACAF ranking index, will play away to Bonaire on October 14 in Curacao, before hosting Suriname on November 17.

Jamaica will close out the Nations League qualifying play-offs with an away meeting with Central American outfit El Salvador on March 23 next year.
