Reggae Girls lose opening match at CAC Games

The Reggae Girls lost their opening game of the football tournament at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Baranquilla, Colombia as they went down 2-1 to Venuzuela at the Estadio Moderno. Khadija Shaw opened the scoring for Jamaica in the 12th minute to give them a first half lead.

However, 11 minutes after the break Yasaura Viso leveled things for Venezuela. Shaw then failed to convert a 74th minute penalty after defender Nubiluz Rangel picked up a red card. Substitute Deyna Castellanos found what turned out to be the winner in minute 83. Shaw had another opportunity from the spot in the 92nd minute and also failed to convert. In the group's other game, Costa Rica clipped the host nation Colombia 1-0.

Group ‘B’ action kicks off on Friday where Haiti battle Nicaragua and Mexico take on Trinidad and Tobago. The Reggae Girls will next be in action on Saturday against Costa Rica.
