The Reggae Girlz secured their second win from as many games in the Caribbean leg of the Olympic Games Qualifiers after thumping Barbados 7-0 at the National Stadium on Friday evening. Cheyna Matthews and Trudi Carter scored braces while there was an own goal from Tiabriggs Thompson and individual strikes from Chinyelu Asher and Khadija Shaw.
Shaw scored her 32nd international goal for Jamaica to carry her tally for 2019 to eight goals. With the win, the Reggae Girlz moved back to the top of the table and to six points. In the curtain raiser, Cuba who were played with 10 players from the 64th minute, defeated the US Virgin Islands 6-0.
The Jamaicans will be back in action on Sunday against St Lucia while in the earlier game, Barbados will battle the S Virgin Islands. Only the group winner will advance to the final round of the qualifiers.
