Reggae Girlz top Caribbean zone of Olympic Qualifiers

Jamaica's Reggae Girlz defeated the US Virgin Islands 7-0 to complete their fixtures in the Caribbean leg of the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifiers on Tuesday evening inside the National Stadium. The Jamaicans were led by a five timer from stand-in captain Kadijah “Bunny”: Shaw who scored in the 6th, 14th, 20th, 28th and 64th minutes.

Shaw took her tally to 40 goals to become Jamaica's leading scorer across genders, surpassing Luton Shelton who retired on 35 goals. The other goals came from Cheyna Catthews who struck in the 8th minute and Trudi Carter who scored in minute 31.

With the win, the Reggae Girlz ended with maximum 12 points, scoring 37 goals and conceding only once to advance to the second round of Olympic Qualifiers to be played in February of next year. The top two teams from that final round of eight will advance to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
