RSPL resumes with crucial matches at both ends of the league

The Red Stripe Premier League resumes on Sunday with some crucial games as teams battle for semi-spots and to avoid relegation following a two week break.

With leader Arnett Gardens and Waterhouse already securing their semi-final spots, the fight for the two remaining playoff positions will take the focus as third-placed defending champions Montego Bay United on 52 points host fourth-placed Humble Lions on 49 points, while fifth-placed Harbour View on 46 points tackle Tivoli Gardens in sixth spot with 44 points.

Defending champions Montego Bay United are in the best position to secure a semi-final spot needing just a point in their match against Humble Lion who will need a win to fend off both Harbour View and Tivoli Gardens.

The clash between Harbour View and Tivoli Gardens is a most intriguing one with the losing club basically out of contention for a semi-final spot. Neither team can afford to lose with only one match remaining after Sunday's games.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the spectrum, Reno and Sporting Central are tied in a humongous battle to avoid relegation.

Sporting Central Academy are in 10th spot with 33 points while Reno are in 11th with 31 points.

Sporting Central will play Rivoli United in ninth spot on 37 points at Juici Park knowing a win will take them closer to safety while Reno could be relegated if they lose to the already relegated Barbican FC on 24 points. However, Barbican has nothing to lose, so Reno must be on top of their game to capitalise and score a crucial win at Barbican Field.

At the Stadium East Field, leaders Arnett Gardens on 63 points take on seventh placed Cavalier on 43 points trying to keep their focus for the semi-final playoff.

Meanwhile, second-placed Waterhouse on 54 points take on eighth-placed Boys' Town on 40 points at Drewsland as they fine-tune their preparation for the playoffs.

All games are set for 3:40 pm kick offs.
