Russian Vladimir Tereshkin is the first of four overseas boxers to arrive for Saturday night's "Gloves over Guns" Pro-Am card at the Ambassador Theatre in Trench Town. Tereshkin will face Williams Ocondo over 10 rounds for the WBC International Medal heavyweight title. The 31 year old Tereshkin will be having his first fight for Uprising Promotion since signing with them last year.
He's coming back after a two year absence following the termination of his contract with one of the biggest North American boxing promoters. The Russian who is 6 feet, 6 inches tall and powerfully built, last entered the ring on January 1, 2017 where he scored a 6th round Technical Knock Out over Tamas Bajzath.
Tereshkin has won 20 fights with 10 coming by way of TKO and one drawn result. Ronson Frank, the president of Uprising Promotion from New York, who staged the last international title fight in Jamaica, where Kemhal "Hitman" Russell successfully defended his NADBF junior middleweight title against Michi Munoz of Mexico in March of 2018, says he pleased to bring international boxing to Jamaica and has also promised another big international fight for Jamaica within the next three months, once Tereshkin is victorious. There will be three professional fights and six amateur bouts on Saturday night's card.
