Scorpions and Volcanoes in keen regional 4-day battle

The Jamaica Scorpions dismisssed the Windward Islands Volcanoes for 200 runs on the opening day of their 5th round match in the regional four day tournament at Sabina Park. Captain Nikita Miller was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 5-60, while John Campbell and Damion Jacobs also chipped in with 3-38 and 1-60 respectively.

Former West Indies opening batsman Devon ‘Shot Gun’ Smith was the top scorer for the Volcanoes with 116 not out. The Scorpions ended the day on 43-0 with openers John Campbell and Trevon Griffith on 37 and 5 respectively. Meanwhile, in other regional matches,the Barbados Pride will resume on 282-7 against the Guyana Jaguars.

Justin Greaves is unbeaten on 72 while Kenroy Williams made 68; Kevin Stoute 47 and Sheyne Mosely 43. Keon Joseph has so far claimed 3-63 and Kemo Paul 2-54, bowling for the Guyana Jaguars.

Elsewhere, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes hold a 59 run lead over the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force. The Hurricanes posted 207 all out with Devon Thomas getting 46 and Wilden Cornwall 43 against Roshon Primus with 4-57 and Imran Khan 3-26. The Red Force in reply could only muster 148 all out. Amir Jangoo top-scored with 81 while Kyle Hope weighed in with 61.
