Scorpions end regional 4-day competition on losing note

The Jamaica Scorpions ended their 2016/17 regional 4-day tournament as they started, going down by 26 runs to the Barbados Pride on Tuesday’s final day at the Kensington Oval.

The Scorpions who started the day at 114-1, needing 341 runs to win, managed 314 all out with Chadwick Walton falling seven runs short of a 5th first class century after being 70 overnight.

Fabian Allen also chipped in with 60, while Trevon Griffith 53 and Jermaine Blackwood 44, also got among the runs. Jomel Warrican ended pick of Pride bowlers, bagging 5-87 while Sulieman Benn had 3-90. Scores in the game: Barbados Pride 377 & 187, Jamaica Scorpions 224 and 314.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force recorded an innings and 17 run win over the Leeward Island Hurricanes at Warner Park in St Kitts.

The Hurricanes who resumed at 273 in their first innings, were eventually bowled out for 299, of which Chesney Hughes got 71 while Montcin Hodge scored 64 against Imran Khan 5-66.

After being asked to follow on, the Hurricanes once again failed to overhaul the Red Force total, managing 237 all out. Hodge 94 and Kacy Carty 54 were the top scorer for the Leeward Islands as Imran Khan once again proved too good with the ball, bagging 6-74.
