Scorpions on the backfoot against Pride

The Jamaica Scorpions will need a strong bowling display on Sunday's final day if they're to avoid defeat against the Barbados Pride who closed Saturday’s third day on 5 without loss, needing another 153 runs to win in their Cricket West Indies regional 4-day encounter at Sabina Park.

Windies test batsman Kraigg Brathwaite 4 and Shayne Mosley 1 will resume play for Barbados on Sunday. Earlier, in the day, Barbados declared their first innings on 311-9, a lead of 61 runs. Jonathan Carter top-cored with 91.
Nikita Miller and Derval Green took three wickets each for the Scorpions while Akim Frazer finished with two. In their second innings reply, the Scorpions were bowled out for 218 in 59.4 overs, minutes before the close of the third day's play. Brandon King top-scored with 46 while Jermaine Blackwood made 30. 

West Indies test all-rounder Roston Chase led the way for Barbados with an impressive 5-63. Play will resume at 9:00 am on Sunday. Scores in the match: Jamaica Scorpions 250 and 218 all out; Barbados Pride 311-9 declared and 5 without loss. The Pride need 153 more runs to win. The Scorpions sit bottom of the table after losing five of their 8 matches so far this season.

Meanwhile, the Guyana Jaguars secured their fifth title in a row after a 6 wicket win over the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force on Saturday. Needing 162 runs to win, Guyana cruised to 163-4 inside 54 overs. Leon Johnson top-scored with 76 with Tagenarine Chanderpaul unbeaten on 43. Scores in the match, Trinidad 120 and 260 all out, Guyana 165 and 163-4. The Jaguars won seven of their 10 matches this season to finish top of the 6 team table.
