Scorpions record first victory of regional 4-day season

The Jamaica Scorpions recorded their first home win of the regional 4-day season after beating the Leeward Islands Hurricanes by 5 wickets on a thrilling final day at the Trelawney Stadium on Sunday. The Scorpions who were set 137 runs for victory, got to their target in the final over of the day thanks to some brilliant hitting from Nrumah Bonner.

The game came down to the final over with 25 runs to get before Bonner hit three sixes and a four from the first four deliveries. With three to get, Nino Henry bowled a no ball with Bonner completing two runs to give the Scorpions their first home win of the season at 137 -5.

Bonner who captained the Leewards in the past, was left not out on 66, while Jermaine Blackwood added 38. Rahkeem Cornwall ended with 3-57, while Henry had 2-47.

Earlier, the Hurricanes resuming at 134-4, were dismissed for 294. Jahmar Hamilton and Terance Ward who were not out overnight, went on to score 54 and 74 respectively. Nicholson Gordon bagged 5-97 for the Scorpions, while Pete Salmon had 2-57. The Scorpions will next play the Guyana Jaguars at the same venue starting February 27.
