Scorpions sting Hurricanes in Super 50

The Jamaica Scorpions will be hoping to extend the recent good run when they take on Kent in the Regional Super 50 tournament at the Sir Vivian Richards Ground in Antigua. The Jamaican franchise had a 148 run win over the Leeward Islands Hurricanes on Monday.

Captain Chadwick Walton slammed 169 off 149 balls and Andre McCarthy grabbed 5-26 to help the Scorpions to the big win. In a rain-interrupted game on Monday night, at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, the Scorpions won the toss and elected to bat first, but lost both openers with the score at 28.

Walton, came in and steadied the innings with several meaningful partnerships, including a 99 third wicket stand  with MccCarthy. He got to his century in 106 balls slamming 14 fours and a six.

Andre Russell supported with 51 from 27 balls, including 6 sixes and a four. Terrance Ward was the pick of the Leewards bowlers, picking up 2-60 runs. Chasing 329, the Hurricanes were skittled out for a mere 181 inside 42 overs with a top-score of 43 from Ward.

McCcarthy's five wicket haul was supported by Odean Smith's 3-16. After winning their third game from five matches, the Scorpions sit third in the six team table.
