Scorpions trounced by Barbados Pride

The Jamaica Scorpions suffered their first defeat in this season’s regional 4-day competition, going down by 119 runs to the Barbados Pride inside three days at Sabina Park on Saturday. The Scorpions took the last four Pride second innings wickets for 27 runs to dismiss them for 206 after they had resumed at 179-4.

Nicholson Gordon bagged three of the wickets to fall to end with 6-45, while Patrick Harty Jnr bagged 3-33.  Set 288 runs to win, the Scorpions slumped to 37-4 and got to lunch at 72-5.  They continued to struggle to put partnerships together and were down and out of the contest at 128-8 when Marquino Mindley was dismissed for 10.

Man of the Match Chemar Holder then picked up his tenth and eleventh scalps of the game to wrap up the innings at 168. Nkruma Bonner was the only batsman to put up any resistance with an unbeaten 39. Holder ended with match haul of 11-92 after bagging 6-47 in the second innings.
