Defending champions Kingston Hummingbirds and the St Ann orchids earned spots in Saturday’s semi-finals of the Berger Elite Netball League following wins over the St James Sharpes and Clarendon Gaters respectively at the Leila Robinson courts on wednesday.
The Hummingbirds registered a comfortable 61-36 win over the Sharpes, after a second half surge, led by Sunshine Girls Hasana Williams and Shanice Beckford. Williams netted 39 goals from 47 attempts while Beckford notched 22 from 26 for the Hummingbirds who earned a second spot in the standings.
Meanwhile, 2017 champions St Ann Orchids finished third in the table with a close 45-40 win over Clarendon Gaters. Simone Gordon led the way for the Orchids with 38 goals from 43 attempts while Petal Smith netted 20 from 24 attempts for the Gaters.
In the first semi-final on Saturday at the National Indoor Sports Centre the Kingston Hummingbirds take on the St Ann Orchids at 6:30 before the Manchester Spurs battle the Clarendon Gaters while at 7:45 pm.
