Shai Hope moves into ODI top 5 batting rankings

West Indies batsman Shai Hope surged into the top 5 of the ICC ODI batting rankings for the first time in his career following a prolific showing in the tri-nation series with Bangladesh and Ireland recently. Hope who scored 470 runs against both teams jumped five places to number 4 in the rankings with a career best points tally of 808 rating points. The Barbadian is behind India's Virat Kohli who leads the list with 890 while his teammate Rohit Sharma is second.  

New Zeland's Ross Taylor is third while Quinton de Kock rounds out the top five. The next best West Indian in the ranking is Shimron Hetmyer at 29, while Chris Gayle is the only other batter in the top 50 at 46. Meanwhile, captain Jason Holder is the best positioned West Indian in the bowling rankings which is led by Indian Jasprit Bumrah.

Holder is ranked at 39th and is the only Caribbean bowler in the top 50. The 27 year old Holder is also at number 8 in the all-rounders category which is headed by Bangladesh's Shakib al Hasan.
