She's A Maneater's groom and trainer part company

Voice of leading trainer Anthony "Baba" Nunes

The five year working relationship between 18-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta and flambouyant groom Lewisito DaCosta has ended after they parted ways on Monday. Lewisito DaCosta is best known as the groom of She's A Maneater since 2015 with the super filly going on to win the 2017 Triple Crown, Superstakes, Diamond Mile and Horse of the Year honours. It's understood that the relationship between the two DaCostas who are not related, had been deteriorating in recent times as Wayne DaCosta became displeased at the level of attention Lewisito had been giving to She's A Maneater.

The veteran groom is now employed to the stables of leading trainer Anthony "Baba" Nunes and has taken charge of former Superstakes winner Bigdaddykool. “He’s a successful groom. He was given talented horses to work with and he worked with a top trainer. He became available yesterday (Monday); I try to surround myself with top grooms throughout my career and because he became available, we took the opportunity to take him.

Lewisito DaCosta who got his groom's licence in 1978, also worked with legendary former champion trainer, the late Ken Mattis and also had stints in Trinidad and Tobago and St Kitts.
