Sixth place finish for Jamaica in Davis Cup qualifying

Jamaica finished 6th in Group 3 at the Americas Davis Cup tournament in Uruguay after going down 2-1 to Panama on Saturday night. Rowland Phillips was the lone Jamaican winner, defeating Walner Espinoza 6-1, 6-0. Dmitri Bird lost the opening contest 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 to Marcelo Rodriguez.

Bird and Phillips then failed to break the tie in the doubles contest after retiring with Espinoza and Rodriguez leading the contest 6-3, 1-0.
