Sparkle Diamond aims to get closer to Diamond Mile qualification

6-5 ante-post favourite Sparkle Diamond bids to qualify for the November 4 Diamond Mile as he faces a tough field in the feature Caymanas 60th Anniversary Trophy going over 7-and-half furlongs on Saturday at Caymanas Park .

Sparkle Diamond going for a four timer, faces 10 other rivals in the Overnight Allowance contest. The imported three year old chestnut colt who is up in class, will be  up against tougher opponents, going this trip for the first time. Now lighter at the scales, Sparkle Diamond will have champion jockey Anthony Thomas aboard.

He will be challenged by the likes of My Elle Belle who  finished within the frame in her last three races and after working well for this, may return to winning ways. Summer Sun will be seeking back to back wins while, Sergeant Reckless, Hover Craft and Uncle Vinnie should make it an interesting affair. The race is set to run at 5:15 pm.

Meanwhile, Royal Vibes is the 8-5 overnight favourite to land the high claiming $550,000 to $500,000 contest going over a mile. The 9 year old bay gelding will be looking to go one better than he did on August 17, despite carrying top weight of 126 pounds as he has less to fear in the 14 horse field.

This contest closes out the program at 5:50 pm. 12:30 pm is first post for the 10- race card.
