Speid and Chung set to join JFF board

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Renardo Brown

Businessman Dennis Chung and coach Rudolph Speid are set to become new additions to the Michael Ricketts-led Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) as the president looks to add to the board of directors. At a press conference held on Tuesday at the JFF, Ricketts announced that former KSAFA president Rudolph Speid has been recommended to chair the Technical Development Committee, while businessman Dennis Chung is set to chair the federation's Finance Committee.

Both appointments are subject to ratification by the board of the JFF at their next meeting. In keeping with its articles of association, two persons can be co-opted to make a maximum total of nineteen members making up the full executive. As per articles, these persons who are non-voting members should have specific roles on the executive.

In the meantime, the JFF have secured two friendly games in March against Bermuda on March 11 and Catalonia on March 30. A local-based squad will be assembled for the game against Bermuda that will be played at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, while the match against Catalonia will be used to recruit players from England. The matches form part of the teams preparation for World Cup Qualifying which starts in August.

Ricketts also gave an update on the assistant coaching role with the national senior team, indicating that the JFF is in dialogue with someone that head coach Theodore Whitmore has recommended.
