St. George's College off and running for schoolboy football season

St. George's College won their own pre-season tournament after beating Godfrey Stewart High  five-nil on the second and final day of the St. George's Cup at Winchester Park.

Captain Shevon Stewart started the rout in the 13th minute from the penalty spot before Alex Marshall rattled home a second in the 34th minute.

Dwayne Ferguson made it three nil in the 40th minute before Ackeem Shelton, brother of former national player, Luton, made it four on the stroke of half time.

Substitute Ackeem Robotham completed the formalities in the 59th minute as St. George's ended on maximum 6 points from their two games.

They received their cup and top cash award of 75 thousand dollars. Assistant coach Marcel Gayle said the tournament was a good assessment tool ahead of the new season.

Camperdown who crushed Godfrey Stewart ten-nil in their opening game on Saturday needed a stoppage time goal to earn  a three-all draw with Paul Bogle.

Malik Douglas' stunning header gave Camperdown the perfect start before Romario Kelly's calm finish made it one-all.

Kevin Clarke restored Camperdown's advantage in the 33rd minute but Paul Bogle again found an equaliser in the 57th minute after some shoddy goal keeping.

Despite being reduced to ten players, Paul Bogle snatched a 72nd minute goals through substitute Omari Grant.

Camperdown kept pushing and were rewarded with the last kick of the game as  defender Fabian Grant scored his first goal of the tournament to make it 3-all.

Camperdown ended second on 4 points and received 50 thousand dollars, while Paul Bogle received $20,000.

The schoolboy season kicks off on September 5.
