The Sunshine Girls advanced to the final of the inaugural Netball Nations Cup after defeating home team England 70-66 at the Copper Box Arena in London on Saturday. The Jamaicans raced to a 19-15 lead at the end of the first quarter before going into second gear in the second to go into the half time break with a 39-31 lead.
The Sunshine Girls extended their 8 goal lead to 12 in the third as they entered the fourth quarter with a 57-45 lead. Despite being outscored 21 to 13 in the final quarter, the Connie Francis coached team held on for the four goal win. Goal-attack Shanice Beckford was named Player of the Match.
The Sunshine Girls will face New Zealand in the grande finale at 12 noon Jamaica time on Sunday after the Silver Ferns got the better of South Africa 48- 41 in their final preliminary match. England will oppose South Africa in the third place playoff at 9:30 am.
